Add a custom menu

Custom menus appear in the right-hand sidebar region of your blog and allow you to link to pages and other content on or outside your blog. The following guide explains how to create one and then add it to your blog’s sidebar.

wordpress menusTo create a custom menu, first click on the link called  ’Menus’ which is situated on the left-hand side of the screen. You will then be taken to a new screen called ‘Menus’.

 

 

To the right of the screen in the elongated box click on the ‘+’ icon to create a new menu. You can assign pages from your blog to the custom menu or add custom links – see image below.

To ensure the newly created menu appears on your blog, you then need head to the ‘Widgets’ page.

Wordpress - add menu widget Drag the ’Custom Menu’ widget to the sidebar where your other widgets already are.

Clicking on the small arrow in the right hand corner of the ‘Custom Menu’ widget reveals the various options for the widget. From the ‘Select Menu’ drop-down, choose the name of your new menu. If you now visit your blog you should be able to see the new custom menu in the sidebar.
